Wyuka Historical Foundation’s “Littlest Angels Project”.
There are over 2850 babies and young children buried at Wyuka they have no markers of any kind, just a stamped number. As we move through the different sections of the cemetery, we are also adding to our list more recent children that also do not have gravestone. We are buying gravestones for each to be placed with the name of the child and relevant dates with the funds raised from this project.
All the flowers that are placed on the graves of loved ones must be removed the following week after Memorial Day, except for the ones that fit in the permanent vases fastened to the Headstones. We put as many flowers in those vases as we can. The rest of them were thrown away. Two huge roll-offs full. Now, a group of volunteers picks them up after the removal deadline, cleans them up and recycles them. All cemeteries remove flowers for mowing and maintenance purposes.
Help support the “Littlest Angel Project” with your donations as you use your creativity to repurpose the flowers in so many ways.
PLEASE HELP SUPPORT THIS PROJECT!!
